
New Gates Foundation Study Explores why People Drop Out or Don’t Enroll
Consumer sentiment in the higher education marketplace has already shifted. We now have ten consecutive years of declining student demand for undergraduate degrees and a corresponding rise in demand for skills-based certificates, badges, and other credentials. In fact, 70 percent of survey respondents now agree that on-the-job training is the best way to advance a career. That said, there are great opportunities for small and midsize institutions to transform their business models amid this sea change and uncertainty. Those that do will better position themselves to achieve financial sustainability and prosperity moving forward.
